I am a Hamilton City/Milford Twp resident, and have been for most of my life. I began my nursing career in 2006 at a home for the developmentally delayed. After a few years, I had the privilege of working for the Butler County Juvenile Detention Ctr., as well as a hospice and school nurse for 3 districts, per diem. Fifteen years ago, I made my way to the hospital setting, where I worked full time as an ER nurse for several years. Last year, I took a full time position as a Hamilton City School district substitute nurse. I also subbed at Badin several times last year. Over the summer, I worked full time at an ER and Surgery Center to keep up with my skill set and accreditations. I am certified in CPR, BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC. I am also stroke and cardiac certified. Making sure the students are safe from a medical standpoint is my number one priority. She began her musical studies at age seven in piano and choral conducting. Her bachelor's degree in orchestral conducting was received from the University of Arts in Havana. She then won a scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies at the Conservatory of Music in Zaragoza. Spain. Sandra has also participated in masterclasses with notable conductors and teachers, such as Benjamín Zander, Francesco Belli, Ronald Zollman, Valery Gergiev, and Lior Shambadal. She also participated twice in the Retreat at Medomak at the invitation of Kenneth Kiesler. In 2018, Sandra’s talent was recognized with the prestigious Alondra de la Parra y Montblanc Scholarship. Her international acclaim continued to grow as she won the National Award in the Vienna World Music Competition for Conductors in June 2020. Sandra’s prowess as a conductor was further solidified when she became a finalist in the International Competition for Conductors in Paraguay with the National Symphony and the Cordoba Symphony Orchestra. Her journey to success culminated in her winning the First Prize in the Musicalia Conducting Competition in Havana. In 2021-22, she served as a Conducting Fellow with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, and in 2023, she was awarded the Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellowship. Currently, she is a Conducting Fellow with The Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra, a testament to her international recognition and success. In addition to extensive work in the United States, Mexico, and her native Cuba, Sandra has also conducted in the Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Uruguay, Argentina, and Venezuela. Sandra was invited to assist the opera La Traviata of Verdi in Slovenia, having more than ten performances around Slovenia and Croatia in 2023. This coming summer, she will be one of the Assistant Conductors in Berlin with the Magic Flute Opera. I continued my education at Miami University, earning my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education in 2019. I am currently attending Concordia University to finish my Masters of School Leadership. I am so excited to be able to work in the school that has formed me into the person I am today, as well as taught me the value of family and faith.
